Open Water Endurance

Thermal Management
Swimming long distances in a Vermont lake during July requires adequate physiological preparation for sustained exposure in open water.
Given the extended duration of a 40.2 km swim, athletes should consume 60 to 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour through liquid nutrition or supported feeds.
