TrainingPeaks vs IntervalCoach for coaches

One is the platform most coaching businesses already run on. The other adapts every athlete's plan daily and tells you who needs you. Here is how they compare for a coach.

Quick verdict

TrainingPeaks is where most endurance coaching already happens, and it covers the business side: you invoice and message your athletes inside it. IntervalCoach does the part TrainingPeaks leaves to you. Every athlete's plan adapts daily to their recovery, and each morning a list tells you who needs you and why. You pay one seat per athlete and the athlete pays nothing. Invoicing and messaging stay in a separate tool.

Where TrainingPeaks is the better choice

You run your coaching business inside TrainingPeaks. You take payments there, comment on your athletes' workouts there, and share the work with assistant coaches. IntervalCoach has none of those, so moving over means a separate tool for them.

You build every week by hand from a workout library, or you sell training plans on the TrainingPeaks marketplace. Your athletes may already train there too, and moving a whole roster has a cost of its own. Garmin announced its acquisition of TrainingPeaks on 22 July 2026, and nothing coach-facing has changed since.

Where IntervalCoach is the better choice

You want the plans to keep up with your athletes between your check-ins. Each athlete's week adapts overnight to their recovery, their load and what they actually did, within the standing instructions you set. You start the day on a list of who needs you and why, read what changed since you last looked, and approve proposed changes for the whole squad from one inbox.

The price is one seat per athlete, and the seat includes the athlete's full Max plan, so nobody on your roster pays a second subscription. The data comes from Intervals.icu and from their wearables, and the squad timeline, squad analytics and a Monday digest email show you the whole group at once. When you need to act, you work inside the athlete's account with Coach+.

Common questions

Can IntervalCoach replace TrainingPeaks for a coach?

For the coaching itself, yes: plans that adapt daily, the squad overview, approvals and your athletes' data. For the business side, no. IntervalCoach has no athlete payments, no coach-athlete messaging, no workout library or plan marketplace and no assistant-coach accounts, so coaches who rely on those keep a separate tool for them.

Who pays on each platform?

On TrainingPeaks the coach pays for Coach Edition at $21.99 a month, which includes 4 Basic and 1 Premium athlete. Each further Premium athlete adds $9 a month, and there is a $99 start-up fee that can be waived. On IntervalCoach you pay €10 to €7 per athlete seat depending on roster size, and the seat includes the athlete's full Max plan, so your athletes pay nothing.

Does IntervalCoach work with Intervals.icu?

It runs on it. You and each athlete connect a free Intervals.icu account, and workouts land on the athlete's Intervals.icu calendar. Intervals.icu on its own is free, and its coaching groups need a Supporter subscription at $4 a month, but it has no AI planning and no payments.

What changed when Garmin bought TrainingPeaks?

Garmin announced its acquisition of TrainingPeaks and TrainHeroic on 22 July 2026. As of September 2026 nothing coach-facing has changed.
