The Feral Pig Ultra is a point-to-point trail race held exclusively on the rugged tracks of Western Australia’s Darling Scarp and the Bibbulmun Track, featuring extreme isolation and technical climbs.
What this race demands
The Feral Pig Ultra demands immense endurance over a 161 km distance on technical trails, requiring athletes to manage extreme isolation and sustained physical stress.
Ultra Distance Endurance
Covering 161 km requires profound aerobic capacity, muscular endurance, and the ability to sustain forward motion over many hours.
Technical Terrain Adaptation
The rugged tracks of the Darling Scarp and the Bibbulmun Track demand careful footwork and durability to navigate technical climbs and rough surfaces.
Self-Reliance
Extreme isolation on the course means athletes must be entirely self-sufficient regarding nutrition, hydration, and pacing strategy.
Due to the extreme duration of a 161 km trail race, athletes should consume 60 to 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour to maintain energy output.
