The Megamarsch Schaffhausen is a 100-kilometer endurance hike within 24 hours that takes participants through the scenic landscapes of Switzerland, passing vineyards, forests, and the impressive Rhine Falls.
What this race demands
The Megamarsch Schaffhausen requires sustained multi-hour endurance to cover 100 kilometers on foot within a strict 24-hour limit.
Extended Durability
Covering 100 kilometers entirely by walking demands exceptional structural resilience and the ability to manage fatigue over many consecutive hours of continuous movement.
Continuous Pacing
The 24-hour time cap requires maintaining a steady, efficient forward pace across varied terrain including vineyards and forests.
Climbing Management
The 1200 meters of elevation gain introduces repeated climbing demands that must be managed conservatively to preserve muscle function over the ultra-distance.
Due to an expected duration well exceeding 2.5 hours, athletes should consume 30 to 60 grams of carbohydrates per hour to maintain energy levels throughout the effort.
Estimated finish times
