The Coach Plan: run a whole squad without losing the athlete

IntervalCoach has adapted training day by day for individual athletes for a while now. What it could not do, until this summer, was work properly for the person behind several of them: the club trainer with a Tuesday group, the independent coach with a roster, the talent programme where one staff member reads thirty athletes before breakfast.

That changes today. The Coach Plan is live, and over the past weeks we shipped the tooling to go with it. This post shows what a coach actually gets, with the real screens.

One roster that sorts itself by who needs you

Open your coach dashboard and the day's question is already answered: who needs you first, and why. A critical recovery signal, deep fatigue, adherence slipping, data gone stale, an adaptation waiting for your approval. Each athlete row carries their readiness, this week's progress against target, and the reason they surfaced. Mark someone handled and they stay handled until the reason itself changes.

The coach roster: each athlete with readiness, week progress and the reason they need attention

Expand a row and you get the layer no athlete-facing app shows: HRV, resting heart rate and sleep as deviations from that athlete's own 30-day baseline, a fortnight of readiness, four weeks of prescribed against actual, the week's schedule, upcoming races. Nobody holds thirty resting heart rates in their head, and 57 bpm means nothing until you know whose it is.

Act from where you read

Seeing a problem and fixing it used to be two different places. Now they are the same row. Approve a proposed session change right there. Give an athlete a rest day: today's session comes off their calendar, the day is blocked so nothing gets rescheduled onto it, and the rest of their week is redistributed. Or set a standing instruction in plain language, with your name on it: no intervals until mid September, keep long rides under two hours. The planner follows it from the next planning run on, and the athlete sees it in their settings.

When several athletes have changes waiting, the approvals inbox collects them across the whole roster: what was planned, what is proposed instead and why, with the athlete's readiness next to it. Approve one, keep the original, or approve them all. Athletes can still decide from their own dashboard, and whoever is first wins.

The season, side by side

The timeline puts your whole squad on one grid, eight weeks across: build against taper, recovery weeks, races with their flags, and how the current week is actually going for each athlete. Whose peak collides with whose rest week is visible before it happens instead of after.

Squad analytics that read the group honestly

The newest addition, and the one we argued about most. Averages lie about groups: one strong rider drags a squad mean anywhere they like. So squad fitness is a median with the min–max spread, and a widening band is itself the signal that your group is drifting apart. Load is the total the squad did against the total that was asked, week by week, twelve weeks deep, built from the targets that were actually recorded at the time. And the compliance strip shows, per athlete per week, who carried the squad number and who quietly disappeared.

Monday morning, in your inbox

Every Monday at seven, before the group ride chat wakes up, each coach gets the squad digest: who needs attention first and why, last week against plan, and every race in the next fortnight. It reads the same data as the roster, so the email and the dashboard can never tell you different stories.

What a seat is

The Coach Plan is priced per athlete seat, and a seat is the whole bundle: your coach tooling, and that athlete's full subscription at our highest level. Daily adapting workouts, the AI coach chat, race pacing, the analytics, all of it. Your athletes pay nothing themselves, and if someone leaves your roster they keep their account and history.

Seats are €10 per month each for 3 to 4 athletes, €8 for 5 to 14, and €7 for 15 to 39, with yearly billing at ten months. From forty athletes we price individually, with invoicing and multiple staff accounts.

The arithmetic matters to a coach, so we put a calculator on the coaches page that answers the real question: what does my roster cost.

Where this goes

Everything above shipped in the last weeks, and the roadmap behind it is shaped by the coaches already using it. If you coach, start with three seats and put your hardest-to-read athlete on one of them. If you are an athlete whose coach still plans in spreadsheets, this is the page to send them.
